In response to many people asking me, “How can I automatically submit my articles to article directories to get massive numbers of backlinks to my site”, I always tell them that I use this service:

Article marketing, or “bum marketing” as they call it, is the process of submitting an article that you have written, or a substantially modified PLR Article, to an article directory, in order to get backlinks to your site. Alternatively you may include a cloaked affiliate link instead that you could cash in on.

** Why would you want backlinks ? **

Because incoming links from other sites increase your ranking in the search engines, so Now here are 3 good reasons to write and submit articles to article directories:

1. You get a ton of backlinks.

2. Webmasters pick up your article for news stories and use that on their website or in their newsletters

3. In the normal flow of information, people who read an article are usually interested in the topic, and if you are centred on a certain niche then you can pick up a lot of niche visitors to your site, or affiliate link.

Got the picture ?

To perform article submission manually, I’ve put up a huge set of article directories is here, if you’re game to spend the time to submit to them:

I “got over” this manual method of submitting articles after my first 10 directory submissions.
It was PAINFUL to say the least.

In investigating the alternatives out there, I settled on buying the Lifetime Membership at Article Marketer:

** Most people aren’t doing Article Marketing Correctly **

It’s true.

People think they can just submit their articles and they will get a ton of traffic.
At least that is what they are TOLD to believe.

That’s NOT TRUE.

The traffic doesn’t just magically appear on your site.
The successful marketers are the ones that have tested what works Vs what doesn’t work.

In my personal testing, I’ve found that the backlink to my site from an article directory is MORE VALUABLE than the traffic I get from the article. That is, to be honest, I haven’t got much TRAFFIC directly from the article directories, but I have got an increased PAGE RANK from the article directories — yes, even if there was “duplicate content” spread over thousands of directories with my article or link on it.

** How to do article marketing the RIGHT way **

There are just TWO things that you need to pay attention to when writing, or modifying, your article.

#1 Your Keywords
Make sure your article targets the keywords that you want to be recognised for in the search engines. Scatter these throughout the Article Title, Article Description, 3 or 4 times throughout the article itself, as well as in your Resource Box. Make sure you don’t overdo it, and stay below 4% of your article with these keywords or keyword phrases so that you don’t get penalised by the article directories OR the Search Engines for “keyword spamming” (Yes that is a real term !)

#2 Your Resource Box
This is the “About the Author” Section that is included at the end of the article, and this is the major focus of where you need to be careful, as this section will determine your page rank credibility.

- Get your keywords and understand what you want to be ranked for.
- You will need to learn how to create a link to the page you want credit for, in the form of:

<a href=”http://www.yoursitename.com/keyword-page.html”>Your Keywords Here</a>

Now let’s study this last bit closely. The first important factor is that you link to a page on your website that contains your keywords in the link itself. That is, your page should be something like “keyword-page.html”, something that can be picked up in the search engines for that term.

Second, your HTML Linking Text should also use the keywords that you’ve centred your article around, and in this case I’ve suggested “Your Keywords Here”. You should use your own keywords in that position and target them to meet your own website requirements.

Now this is where a lot of people stuff up big time and throw away the extra points for Search Engine Ranking based on these link text elements. If you can identify these two links and get them to line up with a page on your website then you will go a long way to getting increased page rank for your site.

Further to this, I should mention that your own website should follow all the good rules of keyword positioning on those pages that you are referring to in your article’s Resource Box. That is, your keywords should appear at in your Heading tags, Title of the Page, at least 3 or 4 times on the page itself, as well as in ALT Text in 2 pictures and/or as ALT text for tables and other objects on your page.

If you follow these simple guidelines and get it right the first time then you’ll save yourself re-inventing the wheel and will earn significantly more from the articles you write and distribute through the article directories.

Hi everyone,

Although I wanted to write about RSS Feeds this week, I was beaten to the mark by a good friend of mine, Alex Sysoef, who runs the Web 2.0 Wealth System. In his post today he posted about RSS Feeds, and how to get traffic to and from them. I received an email from him yesterday saying that he’d got over 600% (six hundred percent!) increase in his RSS Traffic, overnight!

** Traffic Measurement Techniques **

Back to our main topic, we were looking at the website Internet Marketers Against PayPal and today you’ll learn about Measuring Traffic at Your Website.

So go ahead and click that last link above so you can access the free (and paid) tools on that page.

Now if you’re ever serious about running an online business, you’ll need to learn where your traffic is coming from.

  • Are you getting traffic from Article Directories ? If so, how would you know which ones are bringing you the traffic ?
  • Are you using PPC ? If so, are you paying too much for your keywords, and are you actually making a profit ?
  • What about organic search engine traffic ? If you were found in the Search Engines, what keywords would be bringing people to your site ? You’d need to know a little about SEO and Keyword Research to answer these questions. (I’ve been having a LOT of fun with Keyword Elite over the last 2 weeks, it is really worth it’s weight in Gold !! More on that a little later :)
  • What about video ? Will that bring you any traffic and if so, how to use it ?
  • You hear a lot about web 2.0 style websites, do you think they can bring you traffic to your site ?

I could go on and on about website traffic, but let me back up just a little here and give you a kick in the pants. Here it is, you ready for it ?

Most online marketers don’t go for the Niche. It takes time and effort to learn the skil of finding your own niche. Do you know the best method of finding a niche ?

OK – Here’s today’s tip, so be prepared to lock this is (Who wants to be a Millionaire ?)

Locate a Keyword or Keywords that people need a solution for. All you need to do then is facilitate the link between the hungry subscriber and the solution.
You can do this easily through Keyword Elite. Then you’ll need to perform a little SEO on those keywords and monitor your sites performance.

(Woops, I’m getting sidetracked here. For a full list of Keyword Research Tools click this link.)

The question is: How Do I Measure Traffic To My Website ? Well my favorite is GOOGLE ANALYTICS. Man I wish they had an affiliate program as it totally ROCKS ! However since it is free I can only recommend them to you via their link on the page above.

I have also used the free traffic counter Stats Counter. They also provide a comprehensive range of analytical functions for your website – though Google’s tool just blows them out of the water completely.

You’ll see other functions there as well – so take your time to check them out. My recommendation is that if you haven’t opened a Google Analytics account then I urge you to test them out today ! Then to trace the traffic sources, keywords, search engine traffic, PPC traffic, etc, all you need to do is add one small piece of code to your pages, and the stats will start pouring in !

It’s like showing a blind man how to see – notice I said SHOWING, not TELLING.

Well that’s it for today.  I hope this post has enabled you to track all the measurements from your website, provided you with inspiration to learn what is freely available, and got you in the right frame of mind to start building your niche themed website.

Take care and God Bless you all, Brad Smith
