I was recently contacted for advice about how to get your own “cash producing website” going, and I wrote a detailed reply to my faithful subscriber, Clive. He’s been struggling to get things moving for a year or so, and I’m sure that many people are struggling with just where to start.

Your domain will have a lot of competition as the dating niche is very hard fought. This is your domain:

#1 SEO, This should be your primary strategy.

The first step is to find the keywords that are being searched for: go to :

eg. dating, comes back with:
4510 dating
3090 online dating
1948 free online dating

1103 dating services
1040 azdg dating site
995 free dating sites
887 free dating
746 adult dating
714 speed dating
569 smooch dating <===== try this one
555 free online dating services
525 internet dating
522 dating advice
522 lesbian dating

These keywords are subniches that you should keep in mind.

#2 Determine the Competition

Second step is to find sites that don’t have much competiton for that keyword so go to google and enter the keywords that you chose above and see how many sites it finds.

296,000,000 for dating is way too much competition.

BUT

183,000 for smooch dating is quite easy ! A good rule fo thumb to dominate a subniche os to look for competition less than 100,000 This term smooch dating could be viewed to be a little high so you might have to do a little more work to get ranked well.

If you can explore that keyword phrase further then you can design a site around that, and potentially pick up over 500 visits PER DAY. That is a huge number.

#3 On page SEO

#4 Off page SEO

This is the incoming links that you need to do to increase your keyword identity at increase your page rank.
There are various tools available, but firstly create a Squidoo lens with your keywords and link that back to your site.

Then link both sites together and do Social Bookmarking for both sites.
I’ve joined 40+ social bookmark sites, and index just about every page on my site.
Yes, takes a while, but it’s essential to getting the word out !

That’s about it.

Once you’re tapping into the niche markets, the traffic will come.
Then all you have to do is work out how to monetise the traffic.

It can be adsense, your own ebook, affiliate products that you build into your site, etc.

Main thing is to concentrate on getting one thing right first, and when you’re confident you’re on the right track, start another.
