Part II: Off Page SEO Seach Engine Optimisation
Hi all
I would like to continue this week following on the the post about SEO and on-page optimisation. Before I do, there’s an extensive SEO research manual that can teach you much more about SEO, it’s called “Google Manipulator“. I’ve read it, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The author provides depth of insight to SEO using FREE Web 2.0 strategies, and once you’ve read it you’ll be kicking yourself saying “Aha! This is it!” I thoroughly recommend Google Manipulator if you want to get up to speed on SEO Strategies.
Off Page Keywords for Seach Engine Optimisation
SEO (ie. Search Engine Optimisation) is all about getting your site indexed in the search engines within the first 10 results. It’s even better if you get in the Top 3 results, but let’s just aim at the top 10.
As per my last post, you need to develop your site around keywords. If you’re not shooting for goals on the internet, then you’re really just shooting yourself in the foot.
You need to be specific.
Just ONE WORD can be the difference between success and failure for your site.
So you’re going to need to work out exactly WHAT is profitable and what ISN’T profitable for your niche. (I’ll cover exactly that in Part III of this subject, due in a week or so time).
Today, I want to share off-page SEO, and I’m assuming that you’ve got your keywords in mind.
Off page SEO are the links that come from external sources, not from keywords on your own page. Of course you need to design your site around keywords that are unique and that have a lot of search terms. But you’re also going to need to find the sites that you can link FROM that can enhance your PAGE RANK.
Notice that I said “Page Rank” not “traffic”. Your traffic will come from the Search Engines, not necessarily from sites that display your link. It’s important to have your link on external sites, but I find that my traffic doesn’t usually come from those sources.
Before I teach you how to get backlinks, there are a few important tips that you need to be aware of.
The most important factor is your LINK TEXT. This is the text that is shown in a HTML page that leads to a link.
For example, my site has a page: http://www.malignantmesothilioma.info/Pleural_Mesothilioma.html
I want to link from another website to the above page link. The LINK TEXT that I want to show is “Information About Pleural Mesothilioma”.
I would thus create a HTML link like:
<a href=”http://www.malignantmesothilioma.info/Pleural_Mesothilioma.html” target=”_blank”>Information About Pleural Mesothilioma</a>
You see the link text inserted just before the ending </a> tag. You will probably also see the text target=”_blank”. Do you know what that does ? It forces the link to be opened in a NEW WINDOW. If you want to use it, then just at it in to your sites so that you don’t lose people when they visit.
The link text should target your keywords, as well as the heading of your site. The key here, for the search engines, is CONSISTENCY !
Do it, and do it well. And the SE’s will reward you.
The OTHER important factor that you need to include is to find sites that have a high page rank that is related to your niche keyword(s). Get that right, and you’re home and hosed.
How To Get Backlinks Using White Hat SEO
This part will help you 1000 fold to get traffic to your keyword based site. This should be a real eye opener for some — and this is the crux of Search Engine Optimisation. I call it “white Hat SEO” as opposed to Blackk Hat SEO (Search Engine’s will delist you if they find out you are using illegal techniques to get listed in their indexes !)
For a very comprehensive list, visit here. OK. Here’s the way I do it…
I use this all the time, and it works well.
It takes around 15 to 20 minutes to write an article, or 10 minutes to re-write a PLR article. All you need is just ONE article and you’re away.
I use a service called Article Marketer. It’s a great service. Look at these results. I wrote an article “Mesothilioma Symptoms – The “Sudden” Killer. You can see from the picture below that it has been distributed to 1,076 article directories between Jun17 and Jun 21.
View the article distribution in Yahoo here. And Google here. I’ve also posted the current results below.

Google shows 44 unique sites with my article (at the time of writing… this changes over time).

Yahoo boasts 745 sites with my article.

So … does article marketing work ?
It sure does. Although I don’t see much direct traffic from my articles, the site Page Rank increases, which in turn increases my KEYWORD TERMS. And that lists me higher in the search engines.
#2. Locate High Profile Blogs
I use Comment Hut which looks for blogs that allow you to post your own comments (and backlinks) to your site.
Awesome tool, I use it every so often. You run a campaign to look for blogs that have recent keywords about your topic, and that can have comments approved. You could do this manually through the Search Engines, but Comment Hut makes it oh so simple.
Make sure that your comments aren’t “SPAMMY” – so include your Name and email, as well as your search terms. There is a new form of Blog Spam called “COMMENT SPAM”, and blog masters are cracking down on it big time.
don’t be a loser – if you want to get your (relevant) comments on to their blog, make sure you include your REAL name, and then post your comments. Else it’s likely that your comments are going to get denied or deleted from the blog Administrator.
Got the idea ?
#3. Squidoo Lens Pages
I haven’t got time to list all the benefits of Squidoo right here, needless to say that Google LOVES Squidoo as the whole site is KEYWORD based. You can set up Unlimited Pages all around your selection of keywords. And then use your optimum keywords to link your pages together.
For instance my Malignant Mesothilioma is set up with lens pages from Squidoo, and I’ve more or less copied a few samples of my website pages (that were written from PLR) and uploaded them into Squidoo.
It’s real easy to do — just make sure your KEYWORDS are put into the Title Tags, Heading Tags, made BOLD or UNDERLINED, and as ALT Text within pictures. And then link 2 or more pages from your Squidoo Lens to your website.
It’s that easy. If Google Lens Squidooo, you should too !
#4. Social Bookmarking
This is a biggie, and thank God for Web 2.0 !
You need to get your links posted as Bookmarks into the Major Bookmark and Social Directories. Fortunately you don’t need to spenn 2+ hours creating accounts nowdays, like I did first up (yeah that was a reall killer for me !)
This can all be automated using Social Bookmark services, and you can be up and running within an hour or so. I personally use Bookmarking Demon, though they are going through an upgrade program right now and the next version (V4) will be available as bigger and better, they’ve promised.
There is also other software available (but I haven’t personally tested these yet!) They cost a lot more than Bookmarking Demon, but say that they do a considerably better job.
Or for FREE…
I set up Google Alerts to send me keyword based information about new sites and posts that contain my keywords. You can search for blog posts, as well as news services, and more ! I also use it to see where my domains are appearing on the web, and so I know who is promoting my services and who isn’t (nice trick eh ?!)
Or you could try the FREE Only Wire service and see how you get on. They post to 18 accounts, and you’ll need to create each account individually before you can start using the service.
Summary
I use a whole lot of other stuff, and some products I’ve never had the time to test out yet. But for your SEO experience and to get more pages linking toy our website, visit : alternative SEO Tools.
Part X: Improving Your Site’s Page Rank Using Social Bookmarking
Wow, has the week gone so quickly ?
Here in the back office I’ve been reading as much information about traffic building and increasing your sites ranking that I’ve nearly sent myself broke ! If you missed my report last week on how to get backlinks quickly, then I’d urge you to re-read that before absorbing this information on social bookmarking.
This week I spent $100 on “secrets” of how to use PPC the “cheap way”. I’ll share with you the findings of that material in the next few weeks – as I’m currently experimenting with the strategies to see if they work, but for today I really wanted to show you how to use Social Bookmarkiing sites to help you improve your sites page rank.
* Social Bookmarking – What is It ? *
Firstly, let’s cast our minds back a few years. Remember when you’d see a link on a page that said “Bookmark this site” ?
That was a the way of making sure that people would come back to your site once they’ve left it, by way of storing a bookmark on their local PC.
Now let’s fast forward to the 21st century and web 2.0 interactivity.
These days you can place a bookmark on what’s called a “Social Bookmarking site” that will store your link and explanation of the site you are bookmarking on a web page. Whenever you want to view your stored bookmarks, just call up that page from the internet and jump directly to those results.
For example (and these are just a few…)
- digg.com
- del.icio.us
- furl.com
- fleck
- … it’s an endless list !
If you take a look at the bottom of my blog page then you’d see the list of Social bookmarking sites for people to add a blog post into their bookmark list.
It’s very easy to do.
Now here’s the juicy part…
The Search Engines LOVE these sites.
This is because the social bookmarking site is always creating new and unique links to other sites as people add more and more bookmarks to their profile.
This means that links from Social bookmarking sites are typically receiving links with high page rank. This means faster indexing in the search engines, increased “organic” traffic, and increased page rank.
BUT, here’s where the problem lies…
It’s fine to submit to just one site, but it’s better to receive more incoming links from various sources to build up your inbound links.
The best way to do this is to join a number of social bookmarking sites, and submit multiple links.
There are, however, fast ways of doing multiple submissions – although you’re going to need to create your own account on each social bookmark site prior to doing this. My favourite multiple bookmark submitter is Only Wire: http://www.onlywire.com/
Just create your account and then follow the rules inside the site to join the other social bookmark sites. It stores your username and password within Only Wire so that it automates your submissions, instantly. This can take around an hour or so to achieve, but once done, the rest is automated!
Other sites are: Social Marker: http://www.socialmarker.com and Backflip: http://www.backflip.com/ and Social Poster: http://socialposter.com/
Now, to actually bookmark a site using Only Wire, you need to first drag a link from within the site to your “Links” section within your browser. Then when you are on your blog, or on a site that you wish to bookmark, just click on the link you dragged up and it will automatically send your bookmark to your selected sites.
Now, this is important …
If you want to use social bookmarks to increase your page rank then you’re going to need to do one important step: Your Selection of Keywords needs to match your site !
It’s not only your LINK that you want to bookmark, but it’s your KEYWORDS that you are aiming to achieve a higher page rank for that need to match your selection.
So if your site is about dogs, and you sell dog collars, then you should bookmark your site as “Dog Collars” rather than “Dog blankets”.
I hope you get what I mean here. The more specific you are about the use of your titles and keywords, the better you will be placed for those keywords.
After all, people will enter search terms that they are looking for, and it’s these keywords that you will want to target to attract the right visitors to your site.
Next week we’ll look at all the sneaky tricks about Pay Per Click and I’ll divulge free of charge all the information that I’ve read. I won’t tell you where it’s from, but hopefully I’ll give you a little more insight about how to set up PPC campaigns so that you can start winning back some funds from affiliate sales, if you’re game to try it out!
Take care and God Bless,
Brad Smith
Part IX: Improving Your Page Rank
Hi everyone
I’ve been having a lot of FUN evaluating SEO software, and reading as much as I can handle over the last few weeks. I want to make sure that the information that I provide my readers is genuine, and not just a load of baloney.
Last week I bought a $67 product that guaranteed me that I’d have all the Google loopholes nailed down and that I’d be raking in cash hand over fist within days. Well, to say the least it was a fantastic sales letter however it failed to deliver in many ways. So I won’t be recommending that (GPP is the acronym of the ebook for those in the know …) – perhaps you purchased the same thing ? If so, go get your money back, and read the first few lessons from my blog, below.
In the meantime I have purchased two other products and I am truly impressed with these.
The first product is designed to help you easily get backlinks to your website. If you’ve read any SEO material, then you’d know that there are two main factors to help your site rank well in the Search Engines:
1. On page optimisation – these are the terms relating to your main keywords, and they should be located all over your page, embedded in your URL’s, embedded in your pictures, made up in bold print on your pages, in your H1 tags, in your page title, and mentioned casually in your page text.
2. Off page optimisation – these are generally factors beyond your control, but with a little help here and there you can get your site indexed quite quickly for your nominated search terms, as long as you choose non-competitive search terms or keywords.
When I got my hands on this software I felt my dreams were finally met !
Now the whole point about SEO is getting sites with high page rank to link back to you. This was demonstrated extremely well in Brad Callen’s SEO Elite. I initially purchased this 2 years ago when it came out, and it totally wowed me with the way search engines work.
Now, along the same principles, Comment Hut takes you by the hand and does things a lot faster for you than SEO Elite, making the job of backlink submission a lot easier. The way it works is that it finds blogs with high page ranking. Not only tha, it screens through all the blog listings that appear and returns only those blogs that you may actually post to. BUT, this is a manual submission, not automated. The reason for this is that the developers did not want to release another version of Blog Link Generator – the software that is blamed for Blog SPAM.
Get it ?
Comment Hut will identify blogs of high page rank, allow you to post comments, and then link back to your site. But this is a manual submission to help you avoid being labeled as a SPAMMER.
It searches for blogs of the type: Word Press, DruPal,Live Journal, TypePad, Squidoo and Hub Pages. With just the double click of a mouse, you enter a relative comment on the blog, and link back to your site. It is one of the coooolest programs I’ve come across in a long time !
Product Number 2: Long Tail Secrets
Secondly, Long Tail Secrets is an ebook, not software, about how to identify the TAIL keywords, those keywords that around 50% of people are searching for, but aren’t included in the major search results.
Jason lays out very practical and realistic material, and explains things very clearly. Even advanced marketers like myself will have a great time reading this. It is not a repeat of “Web 2.0 Sites revealed” PLR junk, but very concise work. Jason reveals a lot more than just theory, with actual working examples and how to go about doing it as well.
If you’re into reading this weekend, rather than getting into software, then understanding the long tail method of getting backlinks to your website is vital !
Two products that I didn’t purchase yet… due to time constraints this week are:
Product Number 3: 30 Minute Backlinks
From the rave reviews I’ve read, some from personal friends, this is a very powerful method of getting some high dominating sites to link to your site. Michelle takes you by the hand and describes how you can build a massive set of high PR backlinks to your site, based around the keywords that you recommend.
If it works as successfully as it says, then 30 Minute Backlinks would be the way to go if you are into creating small software titles.
And finally … I am evaluating the demo version of this, and so far so good !
Product Number 4: RSS Submitter
I’ve brought this up in the Warrior Forum recently, and it’s a topic that has gained momentum. Senior Warriors are saying that this software has a lot of credibility, and that they use it all the time to submit their RSS Feeds from their blogs, or clients blogs, to get good page rank.
It’s perhaps the fastest way of getting your domain out there on the net, and it’s a very cheap investment for what it can do for you.
Now each of these products today target different ways of getting traffic to your site, and you would be crazy to want to try and use all four at once.
What I would suggest is that you take a look at just one product and see if it lines up with your interests. If it does, then try it out!
Remember to measure just how much affect it’s having on your website traffic, and check out your stat.
That’s it for today. I’m off to have fun with my new toys.
All the best and God Bless,
Brad Smith
