Some people have been asking me how to unsubscribe themself from mailing lists.
I want to help you further so that you can get back the freedom you deserve, so please read on.
Perhaps you’re on a ton of unwanted mail lists and don’t know how to get off.
Here’s a few tips to get off them, just in case it has never been described to you before:
#1. Unsubscribe links
- All emails from commercial sources should have an unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email.
Scroll down the email and see if there is a link that says “unsubscribe instructions” or similar. It should.
I teach you all about “best practise email” for internet marketers at:
http://thespamblockers.com/IMversion/
(It’s free, and you can even get PLR to it if you’re quick !)
#2. Reply to the Email
- This could be dangerous, as it might trigger a spam responder that collects your email address.
However some marketers that use their actual email address can be contacted via this method.
#3. Search the email contents
- I’d look for some form of contact that is included with the email that is sent. This is usually right at the end of the email itself, but it could also be right at the very top.
Search for a help desk contact point, or similar.
Or visit the domain that is mentioned in the email for any sort of contact point. If you find one, drop them a line requesting your email be removed.
#4. Go to the Authorities
- I’m not mentioning any here, you’re going to need to locate them yourself. But if you are on an unwanted mailing list, and have tried #1, #2, and #3 without success, then go to the SPAM police.
Outblaze is one source that you can go to. There are many more.
These guys allocate domains, or sending domains, to a blacklist, and if there are enough “positive” complaints, then the domain gets blacklisted.
This doesn’t stop the emails from being blocked 100%, but it will trigger the larger ISP’s to use their filtering services on these domains.
And hence it will limit spam sources.
#5. Contact the hosting provider.
- If you get to this point then you are getting serious. Make sure you’ve done steps 1-4 FIRST before you jump directly to this step.
This will particularly p**s the web host off if he/she gets their hosting shut down or off air.
OK, I know a lot of us are sick of SPAM, but don’t do #6. Leave that to the experts.
If your attempts to get yourself off the mail list fail, then contact their hosting provider, and provide the full details of the emails that you received from them. They may not act on just one request, but if there are many requests, then they are likely to take action.
In fact, I’ve lost hosting at Dreamhost Domains based on just ONE spam complaint — and this is from people on my Double opt In lists.
So don’t think that by running your emails legitimately that you’d be immune to taking a hit. Even if you aim to do the right thing, you could be up for having your domains suspended or revoked.
(I try my best to make myself 100% transparent to everyone on this topic.)
#6. Murder the SPAMMER
- You don’t need to go this far, but yes it has been done before!

Obviously you’ve been ticked off way beyond control.
See a psychologist before you do anything rash…
Hope this helps you understand the way to get off mailing lists.
Take care !
